What we’ve committed to, and why.
Real commitments, held to a standard.
Mission.
To return political accountability to the American public by certifying candidates and officeholders against one nonpartisan standard, and giving constituents an easy, standing way to see what their government is doing and act on it.
Vision.
Communities acting as laboratories of democracy: each free to govern in its own way, all held to the same basic promise between a representative and the people they represent.
Our values.
We exist to strengthen the basic mechanics of self-government: real representation, real accountability, real participation.
We operate within, and in defense of, the constitutional structures that protect how power is checked and transferred.
The standard we hold candidates to applies the same way regardless of party. It's structural, not a matter of goodwill.
A healthy democracy needs many communities represented on their own terms, not flattened into a single narrative.
We treat the erosion of accountability, one small step at a time, as the thing worth watching for and guarding against.
The organization's constitution, in progress, is designed to put operational control in the hands of the people who use it.
It's structural: everyone participates through the exact same open system, regardless of party.
Your privacy is a commitment, protected by design from day one: we hold sensitive information about where you live and how you intend to vote, and we treat guarding it as one of our most important responsibilities.
Structures, processes, and records, held in the open for everyone.
